Airborne Contaminant Management Services

Exposure to airborne contaminants in the workplace can present a significant risk to workers’ health and safety. Different processes in industry can expose workers to a wide variety of airborne contaminants, including:

  • Particulates (e.g. inhalable and respirable dust, crystalline silica, quartz, lead, metals)
  • Asbestos
  • Solvent vapours (i.e. volatile organic compounds (VOC), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)
  • Mists & Gases (e.g. oil mist, acids, pesticides)
  • Welding and metal fumes
  • Biological contaminants (e.g. bacteria, mould,)
  • Confined Space Contaminants (methane, hydrogen sulphide)

ASTA consultants are highly experienced in monitoring workers for exposure to airborne contaminants in any type of workplace environment. We aim to provide clients with control solutions to eliminate / minimise possible exposures in the most practical and cost-effective way for compliance with the relevant exposure standard.

Our air monitoring surveys consist of the following services:

  • Monitoring airborne contaminants, i.e. personal sampling and / or background sampling
  • Surveying work activities to determine whether work practices and/or processes result in an increase of exposure levels
  • Comparison of contaminant concentrations to the relevant exposure standards
  • Detailed report of all findings and recommendations for implementation of control measures.
  • All assessments and analyses are performed in accordance with the applicable Australian Standards and all samples are analysed by a NATA accredited associate laboratory, where required.
