Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) throughout Queensland have joined forces to form a
new industry association that aims to set a new quality benchmark in safety and training for the
mining industry.
Resources RTO - the Resources Registered Training Organisation Association Inc – will offer standardised training in accordance with the new Recognised Standard 11 for training in coal mines as set by the Queensland Mining Safety Inspectorate, course available from 1 July 2011.
Resources RTO aims to ensure all member RTOs offer consistent, independent and industry specific training that will ensure the highest level in safety standards and quality assurance. Association President (Mr Tony Mapp) said Resource RTO was formed because the foundation member RTOs saw a need for greater quality assurance and consistency of delivery in the training provided to the resource sector.
“With Recognised Standard 11 now in place, RRTO has co-ordinated the development of a standardised training package, (RRTO Induction – Standard 11 Coal) enabling member RTOs to offer a consistent, high quality product across the resources sector” Mr Mapp said.
Mr Mapp said as Resources RTO was a member driven association membership fees would be able to be invested in providing ongoing quality assurance and product development.
“This means both industry and individual workers can have faith that they are receiving the highest-quality training when it’s delivered by RRTO members.”
Resource RTOs charter is to provide:
The first three programs to be launched by Resource RTO will include a three-day RRTO Induction- Standard 11 Coal, four day underground and a refresher program.
