HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Who Should Attend
Any person wishing to gain the skills required, or update their existing skills, to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Aim
The aim of this course is to provide the participant with adequate knowledge to perform CPR.
Course Outline
On completion of this course, participants will know:
- What a first aider should do
- Calling emergency services
- Scene and casualty assessment
- Recovery position
- Applying CPR
- Choking and Seizure Management
- Consent
- Practical performance in applying CPR
Pre Requisite
There are no pre-requisites for this training.
Entry Requirements
Participants will be required to successfully complete an LLN assessment to confirm numeracy, ready, writing and language skills at least to ACSF Level 2 prior to enrolment into their selected course.
It is a requirements that participants wishing to attend this training be able to:
- enter and exit the work location safely and unaided
- have adequate mobility to be able to provide CPR to a patient located on the floor or ground surface
- have adequate mobility, eyesight and hearing to be able to observe their surrounding work area in all directions during activities
Training
Participants will receive course notes which includes treatment of various situations that may occur. Practical activities are included to ensure clients have the ability to perform CPR tasks should the need arise.
During the 2 hour training session (classroom) the clients will be provided with a PowerPoint presentation and information. Each client will be required to successfully complete and in class assessment.
ASTA is responsible for delivering quality training and assessment compliance with National Standard and WHS requirements.
Mandatory Requirements
Participants are to attend training with closed in footwear and neatly attired. All participants are to engage in assessment activities to satisfactorily complete the course.
Assessments
Participants will undertake a theory assessment and practical assessments of their ability to understand and provide CPR. The theory assessment consists of mutiple choice, true or false and short answer questions. Practical assessments will be scenario based and oral questioning and observation of participants will be conducted throughout this process to ensure competency.
Outcome
Participants who demonstrate competency by successfully completing theory and practical assessments will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 Perform CRR
Delivery
The course will be delivered via a face to face format in either ASTA training rooms or at your workplace, depending on numbers, client requirements and training facilities.
