RIIWHS204E - Work safely at heights
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for persons who are required to work or organise work at heights.
Aim
The aim of this course is to encourage the adoption of safe practices whilst working at heights and provides instruction in the correct use of access and safety equipment. This course does not provide detailed training on the erection of scaffolding.
Course Outline
On completion of this course, participants will have the following topics discussed:
- Legislation and Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Codes of Practice
- Risk Management, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Hazard Control
- Protection of Public and Others
- Hierarchy of Fall Protection Options and Principles of Height Safety
- Inspection, use and care of Equipment
- Suspension Trauma and treatment of suspension trauma
- Helmets
- Fall Arrest and Restraint Systems, Anchorage Systems and ladders
- Safe Use of Equipment, Assembly of the system
- Rescue procedures
- Maintenance, Inspection and Record Keeping Requirements
- Inspection Checklists
- Knots
Pre-Requisites
None
Training Materials
Participants will receive a set of Safe Work at Heights Course Notes, Information on Gotcha Remote Rescue Kit, Harness Inspection Sheets and Extracts from the Work Health and Safety Act & Regulations.
Assessment
Participants will be required to complete a practical assessment including a risk assessment in a vertical environment, safety checks, pre-use inspection of PPE, correct installation of height safety equipment and demonstrate safe work at heights in a controlled manner using the correct techniques. Participants will also complete a written assessment.
Outcome
Upon successful completion of the theory and practical assessments the student will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E Work safety at heights.
Delivery
The course will be delivered via a face-to-face format in either ASTA training rooms or at your workplace depending on numbers, client requirements and training facilities.
